Short description why you love working at CSI:
Everyday we get the chance to live our commitment to healing and helping humanity. The positive impact we have on patient’s lives is given back to us 100 fold by the people whose lives we touch. We get the chance on a daily basis to learn, grow, be challenged and extend ourselves beyond what we thought possible, all the while making a huge difference in peoples lives.

I also love working here because our CSI family of staff is warm hearted, caring and spiritual people who make me a better person through their presence.

Short description why you love working at CSI:
Patients at CSI are not like all the other patients, which means they are more special and they need a lot of support and help. I love helping people in whatever they need and my heart is all in HIV patients and CFIDS. That is why I love working at CSI. I feel more useful here than I would be at any other practice. My heart is here at CSI!

Any other miscellaneous comments:
CSI is state of the art. We have all the latest research and updates on HIV and our Doctor is number one in this specialty and we’re very proud of him. We’re proud to say that we are a family at CSI and we have the best team workers.

 
Karen A. Jones, MFCT

Karen Jones, a licensed psychotherapist, has maintaned a successful private practice for the past twenty years in Orange County, California. She is a nationally recognized lecturer in the fields of multidisciplinary medical marketing, medication adherence, HIV and women, and the psycho-social aspects of chronic illnesses, including HIV and Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS). She has presented the results of her research in the areas of neuropsychology, alcoholism, and attitudes towards women with HIV, at the annual conference of the American Psychological Association, and The National Council on Alcoholism.

Karen is an award winning philanthropic leader in Orange County, instrumental in the formative years of AIDS education, and the delivery of healthcare services, founding the Laguna Beach HIV Commission, and the Women's HIV Task Force, along with her dedication to many other AIDS agencies over a twelve year period. In 1998, the City Council of Laguna Beach, a city which for fifteen years demonstrated the highest per capita incidence of AIDS in the nation, honored Karen with a citywide proclamation for her relentless commitment in the fight against AIDS and HIV.

For the past ten years, Karen has been the Director of Psychosocial Services at the Center for Special Immunology. She has earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in clinical psychology, and is currently completing her dissertation research in behavioral medicine, for a doctoral degree in clinical psychology.

Tony Navarro, MA

Brief description of your duties at CSI:
Back Office Medical Assistant. Vital signs, phlebotomy, injections; assist MD in office procedures, EKG, Cardiac Profiles; refill prescriptions; IV infusions.

Family and children:

I have a wonderful wife, Yolanda; 3 loveable children: Andrew (17), Breanna (14), and Tonee (12); and one great German Shepard named Shadow.

Hobbies and interests:
My American Indian culture – beadwork, dance, drums, creating artifact replicas; President of Board of Directors for American Indian Healing Center.

Short description why you love working at CSI:
The staff is wonderful -- teamwork is a huge part of the success of this practice. From Day One, Wendy and the others have made me feel welcome.

Assess all patients for nutritional well-being. Provide nutritional support/medical nutrition therapy for both HIV and Chronic Fatigue patients.
